In September 2022 we set off on family travel to the beautiful Cote D'Azur. We flew from London Stanstead to Nice airport where we rented a car through Avis, as we had plans to visit some of the beautiful places the south of France had to offer. We booked to stay at the resort "Les Prairies De La Mer" which was amazing! We booked through Eurocamp for a very reasonable price and found this to be a great location to head to different areas around the Cote D'Azur. Read on for reviews on some of our favourites for the best family holiday destinations -the French Riviera.
St Raphael
If you are visiting for a family holiday and don't want to worry about all of the prep work that goes into traveling, consider staying at St Raphael. The town is located on the French Riviera and is just one hour from Nice airport. This is an ideal location for vacationers who are looking for something more than a beach getaway. There are many shops, restaurants, and bars that can keep adults entertained while kids have fun playing on the boardwalk or exploring the shops. There are also plenty of beaches where kids can play safely and relax while parents enjoy some time at the water's edge.
Nice
What better way to spend your summer than traveling to Nice in France? You can take your baby on many different adventures, including visits to museums, walking along the beach, and exploring markets. Here are five places you should visit:
- The Matisse Museum: This museum has a wide variety of exhibits on Matise's work. It is perfect for kids because they have interactive elements that will keep them engaged in the museum. It also has an outdoor play area that children are welcome to explore.
- The Promenade des Anglais: Go for a stroll on this boardwalk and enjoy being outside while taking in the views of the Mediterranean Sea and colorful buildings. If you want to get some ice cream, stop at one of the many gelato stands and have a refreshing treat.
- Notre Dame de Nice: Explore the architecture of this 13th-century church from top to bottom and admire the stained glass windows. There is also a crypt filled with medieval tombs where you may find yourself surprised by what you find!
- Musée Marc Chagall: Learn about Marc Chagall's artwork and how he became such an influential artist. There are hands-on activities in each room that allow children to try their hand at drawing or collage techniques as well as getting creative!
-If you need a break from sightseeing, there are plenty of kid-friendly restaurants like McDonalds or KFC where kids can eat french fries and chicken nuggets all day long.
Don't forget to pack your bathing suit when planning your trip--the beaches in Nice are beautiful and provide hours of entertainment for adults and children alike!
Port Grimaud
If you are looking for a beautiful place to visit that is close by, Port Grimaud is the perfect spot. Also known as the "French Venice" this beautiful port is a great place to visit, plenty of bars and restaurants dotted along the waterside, and perfect for a family photo! There are plenty of beaches, there's an incredible food scene, and it's really easy to get around. It's just 30 minutes away from Cannes and 30 minutes away from Antibes. We stayed at the Les Praires De La Mer resort situated a 5-minute walk from Port Grimaud. You can take a water taxi which takes you to the famous St Tropez in just a short 15-minute boat ride.
